Vaccine Protocols
Puppy/ Dog Schedule of Vaccines
We recommend the following schedule of vaccinations and boosters for your pet. The youngest vaccinations can begin to be administered is 6 weeks. If your puppy/dog is older when vaccines begin, then boosters will be spaced out in 3-week intervals.
- 6 weeks of age: Da2pp, fecal
- 9 weeks of age: Da2pp, Bordetella, CIV, Fecal
- 12 weeks of age: Da2pp, CIV, Lepto, fecal if positive at visit one or two)
- 15 weeks of age: Da2pp, Lepto, Rabies (Fecal if positive at visit two or three)
- 1 Year of age: Da2pp, Rabies, Lepto, Bordetella, CIV, fecal, and heartworm test
We do take into consideration the pet’s lifestyle after the first year. Since puppies or sometimes even older dogs often do not come with histories, we do recommend completing the full series of vaccines as described above. Once your dog comes back for its yearly check-up, the DVM will work with you to decide what vaccines are best to continue with your pet throughout their life.
Your DVM will take into consideration things like:
- Does you dog spend most of its time outside or inside
- Did your dog have any reactions to previous vaccines
- Age of your dog
- Number of dogs or other pets in the household
- Does the owner work with animals in any way outside the home?
- Does your dog spend time at the groomer or kennel?
We try to strive to offer you the best care while still being affordable, therefore our DVM’s work hard to figure out what is best for your individual pet. We also want to make sure that you, as the owner, understand why we have come up with the plan that we have for your pet so that we can work as a team to give your pet a long and happy life.
All About Pets offers vaccines with fewer adjuvants. Adjuvants are substances needed by some vaccines to ensure a protective immune response. Unfortunately, adjuvants can present potential risks including injection site reaction and chronic inflammation. Thanks to innovative vaccine technologies, many of the vaccines we offer to your cats do not contain any adjuvants.

Spay/ Neuter
Spaying and neutering dogs or cats as early as 6 months of age is safe, has health benefits, and is less expensive than waiting until the animal is older and larger. Not only does spaying stop messy heats, pesky male dogs and unwanted litters, it also prevents certain medical problems such as uterine infections, mammary tumors, and hormonal dermatitis. Castration- This surgery may be performed for either medical, behavioral, or birth control reasons. Behavioral reasons include unwanted aggressiveness, spraying by tom cats, prevention of dog's running away, masturbating on the legs of friends and family. Medical reasons include: perianal tumors, perineal hernias, and prostatitis. While we do not perform these procedures in our clinic we do advocate for spay/neuter.
Digital Radiography
We offer in house digital radiography that aides in diagnosing your pets medical needs. Digital X-ray uses very low levels of radiation and is very safe. It can even be used on pregnant pets and with no negative effect. Digital X-rays are noninvasive and usually painless. There are times where radiography is indicated to better evaluate the pet's needs for holistic therapies.
